CUTTING
has its historical roots in the
cultures of dark skinned people
in the warm temperatures of
Africa
and from the Aboriginals of
Australia.
The methods, reasons and
results there can be quite a bit different
from our work at Witchy Bitchy
Beauty Spot today.
The method is to cut into the
skin, but not go right through it.
We use a very sharp scalpel to
create the cut.
Color pigment of your choice
can be used as die in cutting.
It is common to insert ash into
the cut, to help the skin to produce scar tissue.
It will be covered with a piece
of special sterile "plastic" for a week or two.
The sensation is somehow
difficult to describe, (it has to be experienced!)
and every body has an
individual way of experiencing it.
It depends a lot on the body
part involved and
the personal ability to deal
with the happening.
It’s generally felt as a sort
of stinging,
not at all unbearable for most
people.
A relaxed state of mind, deep
breathing and enjoyable music
makes it all much more
pleasant.
It will most likely be quite
bloody. You do not need to watch.
If you are the type to freak
out at the idea of bleeding,
you may be better off making a
conscious decision to be cut,
as well as making an effort
to work on your tolerance of
the sight of your own blood.
Women are blessed with our
monthly periods,
and usually have pretty much
worked this subject out.
Men could meditate on the image
of a warrior, as one suggestion?
The pride and final result are
anyway worth it all!
